Automation of PLC I/O Drawings

Here is a link to a tutorial on how it is possible to automate the generation of I/O drawings in AutoCAD.  Also found here are links to other AutoCAD Electrical tutorials.

The basis for generating these I/O drawings from spreadsheets is a fairly old routine written in AutoLisp that is available inside of AutoCAD.

For the last severl years now, newer .NET functions (in an SDK) have been made available from AutoCAD allowing developers to write programs using Microsoft Visual Studio that can run inside of AutoCAD to manipulate pretty much every conceivable detail of AutoCAD and the drawing database.  I for one am wanting to see someone develop programs to automate drawing generation by using template drawings and an equipment list for generating such things as I/O schematic drawings and drive/motor power circuit drawings.  Using these newer .NET tools will allow programs to be customized by other users which is apparently not practical using AutoLisp.
